Two sisters discover a hypnotherapy record from the 1970s that has a dramatic effect on their lives. After falling asleep listening to it for only a few nights, they are more focused, productive and successful than they have ever been before. But something frightening is happening to them, they are losing pieces of themselves as the record amplifies their positive qualities. Trippy and bewitching, BLACK CIRCLE tells a supernatural story of identity that is part early Cronenberg, part 70’s mondo VHS you found in an attic. Written and directed by Adrián García Bogliano (LATE PHASES, HERE COMES THE DEVIL), BLACK CIRCLE is a co-production from Mexico and Sweden that marks the return to the big screen for legendary 70’s cult model-turned-actress Christina Lindberg (THRILLER, MAID IN SWEDEN).

Dec 12, 9:00 PM 9:00 PM, NEW PEOPLE CINEMA 1746 Post Street, San Francisco, CA, USA

Brother and sister Becca (JILLIAN HARRIS) and Richard (HESTON HORWIN) have a rocky relationship. Richard is a reclusive artist struggling with mental illness, and Becca’s missed out on an education and career to make sure he is safe and cared for. But tonight will be different. When her phone is bombarded by panicked messages from Richard, Becca rushes to his apartment to find her worst fears confirmed. Richard has commited suicide. But if Richard’s dead body is right in front of her eyes, who is walking around his apartment, looking exactly like him?

A bizarre slice of weird set in one small apartment, DEAD DICKS explores the sadness and strangeness of living with mental illness from a rarely seen perspective while still maintaining a darkly sick sense of humor.
