Wax Trax! Records begins in a tiny storefront in Denver Co in the mid 70s as a way to sell UK imports and fringe music to collectors. At the center of Wax Trax! are two music-obsessed men and their taboo love affair. They soon move their store to Chicago, where it will have a lasting effect on underground and experimental music. With the store’s success, Wax Trax! releases its first record, and soon becomes synonymous with the new genre known as industrial dance. Interviews with key artists from pioneering bands including Bauhaus, Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Foo Fighters, Throbbing Gristle, describe getting their US start from Wax Trax! The independent label’s success throughout the 80s and 90s starts to pique the interest of major record companies, which initiates the heartbreaking spiral downward that almost buries the origin of US electronic music forever. #waxtrax #movies #sanfrancisco #japantown #ahith #anotherholeinthehead #sfindiefest #indiefilm #records #music
