Christopher Coppola LIVE intro and Q&A via Zoom

"The San Francisco Art Institute is the oldest art school west of the Mississippi. It started in 1871 and has been a beacon for the arts worldwide ever since then. Like many art schools it has fallen on difficult times due to the pandemic and current political climate. Art is a human right and we need more art in the world to keep humanity connected, aware and inspired. I want to thank George Kaskanlian Jr. and his 17th Another Hole in the Head Film Festival for giving me a platform to help build a SFAI film student scholarship from this on-line Palmer’s Pick-up: An American Roadshow Odyssey retrospective. Ticket sales will go to this scholarship. There will be a fun Q&A with many of the original cast and crew afterwards. Trust me, the making of the film was a bizarre odyssey in itself. To find out more about the San Francisco Art Institute legacy you can go to the website: www.sfai.edu. I hope to see you there." - Christopher R. Coppola

3:00 pm (PT) "Palmer's Pick-Up" short film (1986)

Christopher Coppola directed this strange suburban odyssey while studying film under the legendary George Kuchar, who appears in the film.

3:30 pm (PT) Palmer's Pick-Up (1999)

Directed by Christopher Coppola Two down-and-out dimwits are tasked with hauling a huge, mysterious box cross-country as the Millenium approaches.

Two dimwit owners (Robert Carradine, Richard Hillman) of a struggling hauling company are approached about hauling a huge, mysterious box across country at the end of the century. The cargo has religious significance and may be an attempt to release Satan in the Devil's Triangle to start the next century. En route, many step out to try to stop their delivery including Patrick Kilpatrick as a gay ex-con, Talia Shire playing in drag, Morton Downey, Jr. as a tv celebrity, and Rosanna Arquette as a gun-toting sexpot.
